The new 2013 HONDA CBR 600RR

After five years, the CBR600RR finally gets a revamp. The 2013 model gets a new set of fairing including an updated front face, 12-spoke wheels, re-tuned ECU package, Big Piston forks (BPF), and re-tuned rear shock. There is also an Electronic Combined Anti-Lock Braking System (C-ABS) on the new sport bike.Apart from getting 6% reduction in drag, Honda also claims that the new front face improves ram-air intake which means higher amount of air to be fed to the engine thus improving power and torque. Dimensions are almost similar to the previous CBR600RR with the seat stands at 820mm high and 1,369mm of wheelbase. It weighs at only 190kg (wet).Because the bike is derived from an older model, it gets the same powertrain as the previous. Powered by a 599cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine, it pumps out  118 bhp at 13,500 rpm and 66 Nm of torque at 11,250 rpm. Same figures even with the revised ECU equipped. The engine is coupled to a close-ratio six-speed gearbox with #525 O-ring chain as the final drive. As an effort to reduce dive on the brakes and to improve stability, the Japanese company threw in a 41 mm BPF from Showa that comes complete with spring preload, rebound and compression damping adjustability. Rear suspension comprises of a single shock, also with spring preload, rebound and compression damping adjustability. The front dual 310 mm discs and rear single 220 mm is backed up by C-ABS (only for the red model) for a greater stopping power. The new CBR600RR comes in Red, White/Blue/Red and the iconic Repsol livery. -www.wemotor.com
